He has provided scripts for embedding oem.
For update 2 that file can be found at this path within the install. First you will find oem. You can either do this prior to booting ESXi or after. Once recognised, your Areca card will be used to store datastores, but not for the OS.
If arecca have been using a custom oem. In the below exampleESXi will have been booted and you will then access the console. With this file you can replace default files that ESXi uses or add additional files to the install. This copy of oem. Please enter a title.

You would need to modify this copy for ESXi to boot using it after the wreca has been completed. Otherwise the install process will not be able to recognize the hardware you wish to add support for.
